Butyl deck flash barrier creates a waterproof membrane that prevents wood rot and decay caused by the accumulation of moisture under the decking boards. Butyl deck flash barrier self-seals around screws and nails blocking the primary pathway of water into lumber. Also, when placed between treated lumber and metal, the Butyl deck flash barrier eliminates the potential for the corrosion of the metal surface. Butyl deck flash barrier is a self-adhering protective membrane engineered to protect decks from premature rot and corrosion. The Butyl deck flash barrier features a high-performance butyl hybrid adhesive with a high-strength nonslip polypropylene backing. Butyl deck flash barrier will self-seal around nails and fasteners to prevent water infiltration, wood rot, and lumber breakdown. The product comes packaged in individually wrapped and labeled rolls. Cut the deck flash barrier to the proper length and center it over the intended area of application. Remove the release paper and press it into place. To maximize adhesion, press with a small hand roller. When overlapping material from end to end, a minimum of a two-inch overlap is required.
